Katrina Niswander

Katrina Niswander has a compulsion to “rescue old photographs, and give their subjects new life.” Her passion for art and performance started at an early age, when her days were filled with art play and directing the neighborhood children in elaborate games of make-believe. Today she has a similar practice in her home studio in Toledo, OH. Working in mixed media, she uses an array of different materials and found objects to create minimalist and graphic 2D environments for her found characters. Staying true to that explorative child: the artwork is her performance, and the people of the past are her cast.
